Hmmm.  That's a possibility but then I wouldn't be able to use bold,
italics, underline, smileys etc.  If I add those things to the message
after it's completely composed in plain text and converted to HTML, I
would lose the ability to reformat (if necessary) using ALT+L.  It's
bad enough that I have to religiously remember to make sure a message
to this list gets changed back to plain text (from automatic HTML)
just because I saved and then re-opened it for further editing.

It's really not that important.  I just thought I remembered a setting
somewhere that allowed you to preset line length in HTML.  Memory and
me are but casual acquaintances so it's not surprising I would
incorrectly recall something like that.
