Well, that depends on how you look at it. Don't forget that I*LOVE*YOU
affected MS Outlook addressbooks (to send to the next unlucky
recipients.) In this way, it was targeted as MS, but other than the
addressbook issue, there would really be no difference between an
Outlook user's and a TB user's results when they run an attached .vbs.
Possible amendment to that would be if the worm/virus also affected
settings for Internet security restricted zones. If your MUA of choice
is TB, and the browser of choice is Opera, a worm/virus that changes
the security zone settings isn't going to affect you much.
The reason most of these are targeted at MS is because:
1. Many people hate them
2. All of their applications are so integrated with each other that
the implicit trust between say Outlook and MS Word makes it easy
for a worm/virus to be written and a .DOC file to be infected
(macro virus), which in turn does whatever with the addressbook
from Outlook.
IIRC, Outlook Express was the only one that would auto-run in-lined
.vbs and javascript if the preview pane was active. Oh well. Sorry
this was disjointed, but I'm in a hurry to get to work.
