I don't think there's any folder-level settings in the registry.
I think the culprit is still somewhere in the filters. It might
not be the one that filters your TBBETA mail. Instead it might
be some other filter executed before your TBBETA filter. Do you
have any filter that has the "continue processing with other
filters" checked?

I also noticed you're use a yahoo email account for this group,
right? Are you using the same account for TBBETA? Yahoo mail is
web-based, and I assume you may do mail management on the web,
right? Did you set up anything there? What's the protocol Yahoo
mail uses? IMAP or POP? If it's IMAP, there might be some
server-level manipulation to check.

Assuming nothing wrong there, and it's POP, then I would suggest
you enable the "leave mail on server" option first, so you'll
always have some "new" TBBETA mail to test on. (By unchecking
the "read" mark in the mail dispatcher, a message is regarded as
"new" again.) It's weekend, and usually there's much less
traffic in this group.

Then I would suggest the following debugging procedure:

1. Move your TBBETA filter to the top, making sure it's the
first filter for your incoming mail (and make sure its "continue
processing with other filters" option is not checked), and see
if that solves the problem. If yes, there's some other filter
interfering with it.

2. Temporarily deactivate the TBBETA filter by unchecking the
"Rule is Active" checkbox, so that all TBBETA mail would go into
the Inbox. Are those messages marked read there, or normal
(unread)?

If they are still marked read, then they're marked so
before TB! gets them. (If you did it right in step 1, i.e. you
did uncheck the "continue processing with other filters" option,
then the possibility that some other filter marks them read has
been eliminated.) I don't know how it's possible with POP.
Perhaps others would know more about this.

3. If they're normal in Inbox, then try to make the TBBETA
filter "manual", and apply it accordingly.

That's all I can think of right now. Good luck debugging.
