Jerry, I can't explain to you *why* this happens with TB, but I will tell you
what *I* do to get around it, thanks to a recent post.
I use ClipMate <www.thornsoft.com> .
Whenever I copy something (e.g., text from a web site), it automatically
goes to ClipMate first, and then I can very quickly and easily modify
the text in ClipMate, even wrap the lines to, say, 70 characters, etc.
It also works great to remove old ">>" quote marks, etc, too.
Then I paste the newly formatted text into TB for publication.
Works for me.
