What would be your closest analogy for pasting? Is hitting the paste
button the same as typing whatever you copied? Or is it like going to
a magazine and physically ripping out the page and sticking it into
your message?
Once that's cleared up, I do not see why your suggestion is flawed.
With auto-formatting on, TB could treat pasting as though you were
typing really really fast. With auto-formatting off, TB could treat
pasting as if you took that magazine page and a glue stick to your
screen.
However, all said and done, I don't think that TB's implementation of
the paste feature is a *bug*. I just think it is a choice that was
made, and one that could be enhanced.
