Hello,
I know this topic pops up every other week or so, but I'm too lazy
to read the archives :).
What is any kind of encryption (of .tbb files) worth if anyone who
has access to my 'puter can install a keylogger and find out my
passwords?
If it's impossible to make fullproof encryption for messages.tbb
files (as the above shows) why isn't the former weak encryption
possible at least as an option? Both strong and weak encryption can
be broken pretty easily for anyone who knows a little about
cryptology and has access to my PC, but my little brother would at
least be unable to read my messages. (For some time at least.) And
if the developers really don't want to enable encryption for .tbb
files why don't they at least make a format not readily readable
with text viewers (encoded, which is not the same as encrypted to my
knowledge)?
In the event of a keylogger being present PGPdisk and other disk
encryption softwares are just as worthless. (Besides being an extra
burden to install and operate.) But in real life situations weak
encryption is worth just as much as the best.
Just my opinion. And I suspect I may be totally wrong. :)
