Templates are, IMHO, one of the two most powerful aspects of TB. Have
you checked out the information about templates on the FAQ at
http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/templates.html. It's worth a read.

IIRC they are kept in the account.flx file in the /Mail folder.

Check out the message. HTML messages usually come as multipart - a
text version of the message with the HTML version as an attachment. If
the messages from your friend *don't* have a plain text version then
you will have to manually copy the text from the HTML version and
paste it in with Alt-Ins (paste as quotation). The next step would be
to demand that your friend ensure that they stop sending you HTML-only
messages.
If it's not that, then check the templates at the three levels I
mentioned before.
