Thank you for this information, Alex. Understand I am not a student of
cryptology nor even an advocate for cryptology under normal
circumstances although I recognize it's necessity @ times. And, of
course, for those times it should be as secure as possible.
I don't know enough to discuss the point mathematically or with any
great knowledge, but I have the following observations about the one
time pad if I understood what I read. In the first place the key has
to be larger than the text which makes it a little impractical for
some uses & 2nd, the weak link is that that the single key has to be
sent to the recipient. If it's intercepted, well..... Otherwise I'm
sure it's quite secure but I'm not brave enough to say unequivocally
that the NSA or FBI (but particularly the NSA) couldn't break it down
eventually one way or another.
Thanks for your reply; I enjoyed reviewing the articles & now I'll go
back to PGP -- sometimes.
