Jan, since this is not sci.crypt I am not going into details here (and
might bore the rest), but please check the One-Time-Pad (or Vernam
cipher) FAQ to see why it is the only currently known unconditionally
secure encryption system -- yes, and I can say this in a way that it
sounds like fact since it IS a fact :)
