Hi,
I desperately need some help from anyone who can offer
it. (I'm having to write this on web mail, since I'm
effecitvely knocked out of TB.)
The Problem: Trying to migrate TB (version 145) from my
old to my new system, I end up when I run TB on the new
system with my two account names appearing but being
completely virginal -- JMundis and JM14. When I use
Ctrl-Alt-Del+L, TB finds 48 lost folders (correct
number), then places them all in a folder called MAIL
under the JMundis account. In *that* folder appear --
as subfolders -- JMundis and JM14, each with their own
Inboxes, etc., and each with my various original and
proper subfolders, which contain my archived and working
messages.
So the tree before running Ctrl-Alt-Del+L is {First
Account) JMundis (with empty default folders), and JM14
(with empty default folders). *After* running Ctrl-Alt-
Del+L it is {First Account} JMundis > empty default
folders > Mail > JMundis (folders and subfolders) and
JM14 (folders and subfolders), and {Second Account) JM14
(default folders.) This causes various havoc and
confusions of attempted operation.
(There are subsidiary perplexities and problems such as
the fact that my address book and groups are nowhere to
be found and my all my filters are gone, too, but I
don't want to muddy the waters any further here. I have
backups of everything from the old system and can, with
everyone's good grace here, ask for help on those later.)
As history, I migrated TB from a D drive on my old
system to the C drive on my new system, created
thebatcu.reg and thebatlm.reg files as was suggested
here, altered the paths from D to C drives in them with
Notepad as was also suggested, and ran them on the C
drive. (Having only tentative comprehension of all
this, being a writer of books rather than programs and
thus being often at sea in these matters, and at moments
crisis, which this more or less is, being dependent on
the kindness of strangers, in this case, the generosity
and expertise of batlisters.)
(I tried downloading version 148.e and installed that,
too, to see if that might help, but the end result was
the same.)
Thank you for any hope and help you can provide. I am
delighted with TB and quite bereft without it -- also
unable to use it to manage the two fee email newsletters
I send out.
Please, does anyone have a solution for me? I have
tried everything I can think of, and have been without
TB for a week or so now -- quite long enough for major
withdrawl symptoms to be setting in.
Many thanks,
Jerry Mundis
