Yes that is pretty weird. I've never seen this in TB!.

Anything abnormal going on? For example, has it been a week since
you've rebooted? Installed any software lately? Uninstalled any
software lately?

You'll only get that if you select text first. That's normal (but you
should be able to hit the Del key and have it delete characters or
white-space, of course).
