  Assuming that you are creating a filter under the 'incoming'
  folder rather than the 'read' folder, then how about the
  following:

  Select "Incoming Filter Folder"
  Select "New"
  Name : color my msg red (or whatever)
  Source Folder: Inbox
  Move messages to folder: to a folder of your choice

  Strings                    Location      Presence
  [EMAIL PROTECTED]        kludges       yes

  Actions Tab
  select "Set the messages colour group to:
  select your color

  Place this filter @ the top of the list of filters.
