May I suggest trying the CTRL+] shortcut. It will move you to the next
unread message even if it means drilling deep within a thread to find it.
Also when you reach the end of the message list and hit the shortcut
again, TB! will start at the beginning of the message list again and work
its way downwards.

Otherwise, to fully expand a thread use the following:

Full expansion : <CTRL>+<Num +>
                 or <CTRL>+<SHIFT>+<+>

Full collapse : <CTRL>+<Num ->
                 or <CTRL>+<SHIFT>+<->
