Hello Nick. On Friday, October 05, 2001 15:02:29 [ +0200 GMT], you wrote the following in regards to 'TB! V1.54 Beta/9 - cable modem':

Dierk has been extremely helpful & patient with me. I'm sorry that I'm confusing everyone w my problem(s). Its true I don't want to change my subs during this 2 month cable trial period. But I also think I should be able to use the cable to u/l & d/l to both accounts using my original FROM: addy. It's sort of working now (with some bugs) but I feel that's because of serendipity rather than because I understand what's going on. For ex, should TB ! options --> networking be set up as one kind of client for one account & a different type of client for the other account? Should the transport settings for each account be totally independent? I reasoned that if I set DUN SMTP settings to reflect the DUN server, won't that account be looking for a dial up modem connection to upload msgs? Right now I have the dial up acct SMTP settings set for the cable modem, i.e. 'mail' while the POP3 setting reflects the DUN settings. My FROM: addy is set @ [EMAIL PROTECTED] on both accounts to accommodate my subscriptions. Its sort of working but I don't understand why & that's what I'm trying to sort out. And auto d/l seems to hang on the DUN POP3 side & I'm trying to figure out if I should set periodic downloads for both accounts or just the cable acct? Or maybe this is all wrong & I should start all over again. Everything was so simple & transparent with the one DUN service & the one account. The cable is wonderful when it's working -- the service seems to fluctuate quite a bit & I can see the day when it's going to die & I'll still want to communicate w the outside world. My ISP will remain a backup. -- Jan Rifkinson Ridgefield, CT USA TB!
