I don't normally use the Connection Centre since things happen so fast
when connecting to MDaemon and I don't normally send large
attachments. I decided to enable CC to see what was happening. Turns
out that relaying the attachment to MDaemon is a surprisingly slow
process. The transfer rate to MDaemon maxed out at 57.6Kb/sec, so it
took 5 mins!! for MDaemon to collect a 10MB attachment. POP retrieval
is, however, a lot faster, i.e., over 750Kb/sec.

The first attachment I experimented with was 60+ megabytes and I
simply didn't give it anywhere the time needed for the transfer (what
I thought was a loop was really a slow transfer in progress).

The other thing that is very useful is to configure TB! not to bind
attachments until it's ready to send. This impacts greatly on
performance when sending large attachments since a lot of time and
intense CPU usage is spent binding the attachment from the outset.

Anyway, I patiently waited for transfers to take place and
successfully sent and received a 10MB attachment. This is after
enabling not binding attachments until sending (at TB!'s end), and
also enabling the 'POP command immediately removes message from
outbox' option in MDaemon's miscellaneous options.
