I am subscribed to a music digital signal processing list. The people who post to that list use very different mail clients. Especially Outlook and Eudora seem to mess up references, so threading by reference works sometimes, but not always. Similarly, sorting by subject doesn't work all the time, because a [music-dsp] gets prepended to all subject lines. Is there a way to sort by references and then subject or does anyone know how to tweak either references or subjects (with procmail or similar) to straighten them out?
