Per your suggestion, I tried the Windows driver, and I tried loading
the latest HP driver. (I even tried upgrading TheBat! to version
1.60.) I reject out of hand your suggestion, that I buy a better
printer, as merely suggesting that I throw more money at the problem.
After all, the might have other uses. I also disagree with your
suggestion that this is an HP problem rather than a TheBat! problem.

Other programs are able to print with the HP 694C, therefore it is
possible for TheBat!'s developer to write code to enable TheBat! to
print with the HP 694C. It is only a matter of TheBat!'s developers
recognizing whose problem the problem is, stepping up to the problem
squarely, and solving the problem. I emailed the following bug report
to RITLABS <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 23 March 2002.

++++++ Begin Bug Report ++++++

I downloaded and installed The Bat! Version 1.60.

The printing problem I had with Version 1.53d (see below) is still a
printing problem. Only the non-readable characters have changed. Now
all non-readable characters are the same empty rectangle character.

Incidentally, "all my other programs" that print normally on My HP
694C printer include NotePad, WordPad, Word, Quicken, Opera, and
Eudora. If they can figure out how to do it, why can't TheBat!?

=The following message was sent to <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> on 19 March 2002=

Hello The Bat! developers,

I am using The Bat! Version 1.53d

  Serial Number 2B42E2E3

  under Windows 95 4.0 Build 1111 B

and would like to report a bug

  The bug description:

I'm using an HP 694C printer. All of my other programs are printing
properly. TheBat! is not.

When I print incoming messages using TheBat!, everything (i.e. both
the header and the text) is printed in black, non-readable characters.

When I print a message that I an composing using TheBat!, the header
and the text) are printed in black, non-readable characters. If I
insert quoted text in the message, it will be printed in black,
non-readable characters. However, if (and only if) I'm replying to a
message, any quoted text from the message being replied to will be
printed in red, readable characters.

Steps to reproduce the bug: Print a message using TheBat!
