Hello, TBUDL! Had a strange bug (or is it a feature :) ) in The Bat 1.60c. I tried to fetch some mails from a mail-server. Fetching went ok, but when it came to deleting, the server did not answer or something. I could not abort the task.
Before killing The Bat the hard way via TaskManager I saw that my Inbox contained 0 messages, which was really strange since I remembered to have some hundred e-mails there. After restarting The Bat I had no other than the standard folders and all my filters in the sorting office were gone. I restored my settings from a backup and the folders showed up again. Only problem: My Inbox was still empty. Before making any further experiments I tried to make a backup of the state as it was now. Here I got a message that the index file of my Inbox folder seems to be broken and that I should delete it and reread the folder. I deleted that file but found no notice on how to reread a folder. The Bat did not reread it on itself on the next startup - still 0 e-mails. I restored the file and tried again to fetch some e-mails. Now the server was repsonding and - tatah - all my 700 e-mails in the Inbox were there again. That's strange. It never happened to me before. For future knowledge: How do I make The Bat reread a folder and create a new index file? That was a hit against the trust in The Bat's stability. I'm getting paranoid and am thinking about making two backups per day and not only one per week. -- Best regards, Robert mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Using The Bat! v1.60c on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2
