I don't consider this fully off topic...

Peter,
Your S/MIME sign is invalid since it claims that: The issuer of this chain is not
found.

But: I possess the same type of certificate as you have, meaning that I am also a
validated member of Thawte freemail program. I have my certificate installed on my
PC, and it is valid.

This means that i have installed the CA Root Authorities (Personal Freemail RSA
2000.08.30 and Thawte Personal Freemail CA) that are required to validate your
certificate. This is why I think your certificate should be valid *by default* on
my PC, but it isn't.

I can think of two possible causes.
1. The Bat fails to recognise the root CA installed on my PC.
2. Having them on the PC (encapsulated by micros~1) is not enough. I have to
install the root CA as well in the Addressbook of The Bat.

Any light?
