Hello Allie and Others, I'd like to take this to TBOT as I am going to ask those who are running different antivirus programs to test something out with The Bat.
I currently am using NOD, and have downloaded the eicar test file to check for problems from this site: http://www.declude.com/tools You will notice several different types of Eicar patterns are available to do a thorough check. My question to fellow Bat users that using different AV's and NOD is: Can you delete the eicar file with NOD after it is downloaded onto your machine. NOD gives a warning, however it will not let me delete the file. I don't know if it just my machine, TheBat, or what. I have turned NOD off and used F-Prot, it too caught the file, but was able to delete the eicar file with no problems. I tried with F-Secure and Norton all had no problems with deleting the file. What is weird is I was able to save the eicar file to the desktop and just could not delete it with NOD32 latest updates. I have emailed Support for NOD and they want proof that there is a problem. The only way to do that I guess would be to tell them that others are or aren't having the same problem.
