Do you have email scanning ON? I use NAV 2002 with email scanning on
and works fine. It has caught 3 or 4 viruses in the last week. On in
coming mail do you see the mail icon in the tray? If no, then either
you have email scanning off, or you have unselected "Display tray icon
when processing Email."

To turn email scanning on go to Options | Select Internet Email and
under "What to scan" select "Scan incoming Email" &/or "Scan outgoing
Email." To make sure it is working under "What to do when scanning
Email" select "Display tray icon when processing Email."

If that doesn't do it, I suggest you contact Symantec at
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/.
