I meant fun as in a bad term.  I personally don't think it is fun at
all, and have myself spent many hours working against that kind of
attack.  Some script kiddie would love to even come up with such a
simple idea.

Unfortunately a very difficult thing to do, although a couple of US server
operators have started taking legal actions against a number of
Romanians with co-operation with the FBI, and CIA, for illegal use of
servers, and DDoS attacking servers.

Very true... unfortunately until there is one legal system, or at
least a centralized legal system when it comes to internet related
activities, laws like that are going to be difficult to impose.

That really wouldn't surprise me. In fact some security companies
actually hire 'ex-hackers' as top 'security' consultants purely for
their history, and knowledge. Wonder if Microsoft ever thought of
doing that ;)
