I don't understand why you send TO him, and only CC the list. If he is
a member of the list, he will see the posting on the list anyway, or
not? I sometimes get replies to list postings to my PM address with CC
copy to the list, and it annoys me greatly.

Send your postings to the list server. If the original poster
explicitely requested a copy to his PM address (maybe due to server
problems or what), set that address in the CC field manually. The list
templates will still be used.
