I'm new to this list, so apologies if this has been discussed and resolved. If so, please just point me to the relevant archive entry. I've tried all the suggestions (at least those I could understand) in the list archives and still can't get this to work.
My university is going to start requiring secure SSL connections for mail retrieval in the next couple of weeks, and I can not get TB to connect securely. The mail server should be set up for secure connections on a dedicated port, but I've tried the other connection options in TB as well. When I try it through POP3, I get no error messages but TB simply says there are no new messages on the server (when there are). A line in the logs also says "Initiating TLS handshake", but never says whether or not it worked. When I try it through IMAP4, I'm able to retrieve mail, but the connection seems to be happening on port 143 rather than on the (secure) port 995. I have installed the certificate from the mail server (which I got from Eudora's logs), but that didn't help either. Does anyone have an idea of how to get this to work, or am I going to have to use a tunneling program? If the answer is the latter, is there a clear, simple set of instructions for setting up stunnel (or another free program) you can point me to? Thanks for any help. The deadline for setting this up is drawing near, and the thought of having to give up TB makes me shudder. -Sean -- Using The Bat! v1.61 on Windows 98 4.10 Build 2222 A ________________________________________________ Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
