I use SSL all the time, now and it works flawlessly.  I did have some
issues when I first started. Here are the problems I had.

  1. The user name changed.  I needed to add the @domain.com to the
  end of the user name.

  2. The POP3 Server was on the dedicated port (995) and required
  regular authentication.

  3. The SMTP server was on the regular port and required POP before
  SMTP authentication.

  4. The server name of the secure server was different, even though
  it lead to the same IP.
