I've got it enabled on this connection.

I have updated the monitor drivers. I updated the on-board video
drivers, but looking at the details with the new drivers most of the
file dates are the same. Per USR the WinXP has the correct drivers for
my modem. I've un-installed ZAP & AT program, Boclean. I am using WinXP
FW though. I don't have a lot of email to download, but it seemed to
work properly for DL of email. Web page downloads seems slower though.
It may be all the services WinXP Pro runs in the background that slows
down DL of web pages, but am not sure.

I'll probably disable the FW in WinXP Pro and see what happens. Off line
this new PC screams, but on-line through a dial-up seems slower than my
old P166 with Win98. There are loads of services on WinXP Pro. I don't
have a handle on what loads with default install, and don't know what is
required for a dial-up connection. I would suspect this may contribute
to problem.

With all the services on default install, I would suspect that
assumption of WinXP Pro users would be using broad band connection. Well
when it is in the budget, I might make that step after a purchase of a
hardware firewall solution.

In the meantime if anyone can contribute to solution, it would be
appreciated. TIA!
