Agreed! I do use a news reader for probably 10 to 15 newsgroups primarily for support purposes for various software packages. In all cases I do NOT leave my email address. I learned the hard way. When I did first start with news groups I did leave my email address, and noticed an increase in spam. Since this experience and leaving an address like [EMAIL PROTECTED], I find this disclosure of TBUDL being ported to a newsgroup quite concerning. As far as I'm concerned if I'm going to get involved in a thread on a newsgroup, then the discussion should be left there. I have seen flame wars, and don't like to see the occurrence, but do realize egos and ideological positions can cause them to occur. I've seen substantially large threads in the past about TBUDL being on a news group. I've also been part of large threads in the past where the discussion centered on TB being a news reader without any plug-in software. In fact one of the main reasons I opted to become a user of TB was because of future plans of TB having news reader capability in version 2. I think it is to the benefit of the member when inquiring about functionality of an email client to use a ML. Conversely if and when TB becomes news reader, then starting a news group with regard to that functionality would be in the best interest of the user. My point is the member list should be kept separate both from a functionality perspective and for protection of someone's email address from the harvesters that use newsgroups for that purpose. Hopefully many more will express their displeasure and the practice will be discontinued. If it is not discontinued, then what are my options? Discontinue membership to TBUDL and related ML or learn if is possible to change my email address on send and still be accepted by ML. -- Best regards, Greg Strong TB! v1.62/Beta16 on Windows XP Service Pack 1 PGP public keys: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=0xB1FE63FA&Body=Please20send20keys ________________________________________________ Current version is 1.61 | "Using TBUDL" information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
