I've been through this, and I feel your pain. I spent *days* trying to
get the connection to work. It turns out that The Bat doesn't
currently support secure IMAP connections, and even the POP3 secure
connection didn't work with my mail server.

APSA> Could you advice, please, on what I should do ?

What I ended up doing (on the suggestion of a helpful member of this
list, who's name I don't recall) was to use stunnel (www.stunnel.org).
Stunnel is a free program that basically takes local connections and
passes them securely to the mail server. It looks a bit intimidating
at first, but it isn't as difficult to configure as it seems, and
works flawlessly once you've got it set up. I ended up configuring it
to use POP3 rather than IMAP, but I'm sure you could get it to work
with IMAP as well.

To set up stunnel to use a secure POP connection, put the following lines in your
stunnel.conf file after you've installed stunnel:

[sllpop3]
accept = 127.0.0.1:110
connect = aguayro.ulpgc.es:995

Then run stunnel.exe (I have it start automatically with Windows), and
tell The Bat to receive mail from 127.0.0.1 on port 110. That's it!

Agreed. This problem needs to be addressed by the developers,
especially since so many mail servers are starting to require secure
connections.
