Alas, no. Say you want to transfer a file to me, using FTP. Either you would have to allow me to connect directly to your computer, or I would have to let you connect to mine. This would be a _big_ security problem, and possibly impossible, depending upon how you are connected to the internet. Dropping the file into an email allows me to transfer it to you without you and I making any direct connections.
