I've already made my point on the issue. The only thing that could
be construed as being bloated about my message was the addition of
my PGP signature. I specifically use it on this list because I and
the other moderators think it is best to do so in order to secure
our messages, on and off list.
I don't know if you're a member of other lists that I'm on. If so,
you'll note that I do not PGP sign my messages to them. It's just
not necessary in my view. I don't need to secure my identity on
those lists. Others may think otherwise and that's their
prerogative. You also seem to think otherwise since your messages
contain S/MIME signatures.
In what way are my messages otherwise bloated or unreadable when
compared to HTML mail? HTML mail is just not necessary to convey
one's point in the overwhelming majority of instances when using
e-mail. Plain text is an adequate medium that avoids a lot of
problems and issues that HTML formatting creates. These problems
have little or nothing to do with bloat as well. Read my recent
posts on TBOT and you'll see that I haven't mentioned bloat.
However, my PGP signature is essential if I wish to secure my
identity.
Can you suggest another way of doing it that's compatible for most
readers here and that is less economical in the interest of bloat?
If so, then I'd love to know, because I wish the members to be able
to verify that a private message from me is really from me and that
important posts from me are indeed really from me. Since they don't
know me or have not met me, their only means of verification is one
of my history, in that they have almost 2 yrs worth of messages that
have been consistently signed using the same key, whether or not
these messages are important or moderatorial. With my many signed
messages to the list, you can be assured that when my signature here
verifies with the key that has been used to sign all those other
messages, then it's really from a TBUDL moderator who calls himself
Allie Martin. That's all the verification you need and it's all
there. If I signed only on occasion this sort of verification would
not be possible without actually meeting me.
