I learnt to type on a Macintosh SE. So I used proportional fonts, and
Mac's had been around long enough for people to realise that
typesetting style, rather than typing style, should be applied.
(Remember the book "The Mac is not a typewriter"?)

Plus I use Alt-L all the time (I hate Autoformat, though).
