PS> Since you're running Win2K you can look at the event viewer and see just what the error may be. That should give you some more information on why it keeps crashing on you and sometime (but not PS> always) it will give you a solution.
I have no idea what an event log is and haven't been able to find it. Sorry. :( I'll be happy to look if you can direct me? Also, it crashes whether I use the program files shortcut (in the Start Up menu) or the desktop one. It doesn't seem to be picky about that.
