The "used" space is about 75 meg. Compressed is about 15 meg. There
are 827 files. On my 800 mhz P-III it updates in about 80 seconds.
The builtin TB backup takes about 30 seconds to manually prepare and
about 16 seconds to execute. So the total time is about 92 seconds
(beta and gild).
For relative speed testing, I did a new compression on my gild mail
store (a little over 31 meg). Below are the commands used, the
elapsed time in seconds and the compressed size (mb):
7zn a -r \t1 * 74.85 4.90
7zn a -r -tzip \t2 * 37.36 6.73
zip -r \t3 * 10.64 6.85
zip -r1 \t3 * 5.54 8.20
On the full TB backup (not update), 7zn took 171.74 seconds (14.66
meg). Zip took 27.90 seconds (19.11 meg) and Zip with -1 (fast) took
14.09 seconds (22.04 meg)
As you can see, 7z doesn't come close to zip in speed. On my
relatively slow machine (with nearly 100 gig free disk space), I'm
considering switching back to zip with the -1 option for TB backups.
