For a reference here's the command to compress my main mail store with
7z and zip (redirection for 4nt):

    7zn u -ms=off -up0q0 -r %bu\Gild * >nul 2>> %bu\out
    zip -urq1 %bu\Gild * >>& %bu\out

I see you said "not much change," but 20 seconds vs 10 minutes is only
about 3% the time for an update.  Since my biggest folder files change
with only a little new mail, I'm running about 30-40% of the time for
a "from scratch" compression using 7z.
