Well, I don't think so. There is no firewall installed on that
machine. And besides if you use POP or APOP always use the same port
(by default). So, my mailrequest reaches the server, but then the
server replies with an Authentification error.

I even tried to rinstall The Bat. That didn't help. Then I cahnged to
the latest Beta version. That also didn't change the behaviour.

Is there anywhere a registry entry that maybe changes the behaviour on
APOP? I really have absolutely no explanation for that behaviour.

What I will do next is creating a second mail account in the Bat to
see if that is working properly with APOP. I keep you informed. If
anyone has a hint it would be great when you could help me.
