Froost worked for me, but it crashed if it was in my startup group.

Go to File/Windows Watcher and add "Message Ticker" to the list.

As a matter of interest, I found the only way to remove Active
Expressions from the Window Watcher was to edit the registry. However
I have found the developer (at Alexander Mohr
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>). He has republished the Transperizer web page
at http://alexander.mohr.name/transperizer, and I plan to ask him to
include a way to remove Active Expressions without hacking the
registry.

As a matter of interest, I have the following Active Expressions:
"*HotSYnc*" and "PocketMirror*" to make my PDA hotsync transparent
"+class:Shell_TrayWnd" to make the Win XP taskbar transparent
"Connecting*" to make my dialup window transparent
"MessageTicker" to make the Message Ticker transparent
