Yes, finally.

Exactly. This is the reason I had so much trouble. TB only gave me the
status "connecting..." in the status bar.

As it turns out, I did not need a user name and password for connecting
so when I deleted it, it all went fine.

Now I use the LDAP address but without any problems. Actually, it runs
pretty well.

I have submitted requests at Mantis for:

   * Making the quick search also match on handle.

   * Having addresses auto-complete from the LDAP server (which is no
     problem when you are on a local connection).
