with their concerns of privacy and spamming.

I'm curious why they're happy to have the list archive available to
the public as it presently is, while at the same time, be against the
list mirrored to an NNTP server with a sensible setup to protect the
innocents.

I'd be willing to explore this one on TBUDL again and this time draft
a proposal that covers all the pros and cons of NNTP and how they'd be
addressed with the proposed system.

I agree here.

Obfuscate the addresses.

Bar posting via NNTP so that only true subscribers can post. They post
as usual to the list address and have the option to set their
subscription to 'nomail'. They can then read the list via the NNTP
server.
