I can get the euro character (€) with {right alt}+E. But that's
because I'm using a German keyboard. :P

A more general way would be this: hold <alt> and type 0128 on the numeric
pad. I'm not sure if it works for you, because the ascii numbers above
0127 can be different on different machines.
