Dear Alls, but you really think that all life can be replaced by on-line social networks? A conference is a complex experience with a lot of aspects that on-line meetings cannot reproduce at all. The travel, the full immersion in the conference environment, the coffe-breaks, the social events with the colluegues, the human interactions are the real contributions of a conference. A lot of collaborations, ideas, projects start thanks to a conference since it is really an "Event", that change for a few days our routine, making everything potentially impressive. I definitely do not think that all this can be even approximated by the most advanced social network platform... I vote for an opposite petition!
