A couple of years ago, I experimented with conditional text. Today, I was
looking in one of those files for something that I thought really *should*
be there... but it wasn't. A few moments later, I thought to check if the
conditions were set for that option. They weren't, and when I turned them
on, I was able to find what I was looking for.

That seems to me to be a big drawback for using conditional text. Or is
there something I'm just not seeing, here?
