Hi Lisa,

I've used the desk accessory called Paint to save large BMP files into
PNG, making the file sizes much smaller and with no change in quality
that I could see. The drawback for you would be another step to have to
do for each graphic, but at least you probably wouldn't need to buy any
expensive software to save in that format. My files were black and
white, so YMMV if you're using color.
