No, you don't need to do make a picture/list of the files -- there's a
much easier way!!!

1. Create a new book file (don't name it yet), and leave it open.
2. In the original (old) book file, select all of the files.
3. Right-click on the files and drag them to the new book file. I
would use the Copy Here option when you release the mouse button.
4. Close the old book file.
5. Save the new book file as the old book file name.
6. You will need to re-add generated files (TOC, IX, etc.) to the new
book (they will show in the new book but they lose their generated
status when you copy them over. However, by saving the book as the
original name, it will "grab" the old files when you generate/update).

Should only take you a minute or two to do it this way.

Subject: Re: [TCP] FrameMaker Conditions that won't go away

This was interesting because I was just struggling with the very same
issue that Carla had.

I tried Sean's first suggestion and opened the Book file in Notepad and
then in WordPad. Unfortunately, all the strange characters made it
impossible to remove the two tags that I was trying to delete from the
Book file without corrupting the Book file.

So, now that I've heard Carla's success story, I'll create a new book
file.

Unfortunately, thanks to Carla and Donna's excellent suggestions about
how to set up a book for single-sourcing, I now have 9 books files, each
of which has well over 100 files in it. I'll use Snag-It to capture the
book file screens for each, so that I can rebuild them all correctly :)

Oh if I were only not so compulsive about cleaning out unused items ....
