I use roman numerals for the introductory section. Then when I create the 
PDF, I also convert the introductory section to roman numerals there as well 
(the method for this varies depending on which version of Acrobat you have). 
If I remember correctly, that allows the user to use the same page numbers 
in the print dialog box as they see on the pages.
