If your company's tuition reimbursement program does not specifically say that it is limited to coursework that directly relates to your current job with the company, then it is intended to be an employee benefit that will "support" the company by retaining employees who have the initiative to educate themselves. Your medical benefits and your 401k don't directly "support" the company's goals either, but they don't exist just because your management cares about you.
