I used to be a Ventura expert, going back to GEM under DOS, but I
haven't seen a Ventura job in nine years. I don't know whether Corel
Ventura still works the same way.

Going back many years, I recall that Ventura linked pages created in
an external application (usually DOS WordPerfect or XYWrite) with its
own, separate, formatting files to produce a document. To edit
anything in a Ventura publication, you opened the original word
processing file to make the changes. The original text always
remained in the standalone word processor file. You never actually
changed your source material within Ventura.

The Ventura files contained formatting instructions and linking
information. The source document was always separate and available.
Can you find a file that contains your text, or is it hidden in some
kind of a binary Ventura file nowadays?

The association between the Ventura PUB and MS Publisher is an
artifact because both programs generate PUB files. This is definitely
not an MS PUB file if it came from Ventura.
