I heard about TCP from the Tech-Wrl list also.

I'm the Technical Content Manager at an on-demand (SaaS) PLM (Product
Lifecycle Management) software company in Foster City, California (right
at the end of the San Mateo Bridge). We're a fairly small company, and
I'm the only writer. I write all of the user-facing documentation (about
15 documents). I do my document writing in XML--both Docbook and DITA. I
use the Syntext Serna XML editor to author, and am heavily dependent
upon a consultant to set up the technical side of things.

I'm hoping to single-source our DITA content to create a help system for
our application, probably transforming to an Eclipse Infocenter.

I am responsible for every word that appears in our application,
including terminology decisions, page tips, error messages, etc. We're
small enough that I'm a member of the Design team, and get to provide
input on new features and enhancements (we have new releases about three
times a year).

I've also become the project manager for translating our documents into
Chinese, and I fear I may soon become the localization manager as well.

Coffee. I need coffee.

Subject: [TCP] where are you from, what do you do?

Hi everybody,

Traffic to the TCP website and membership on the list have increased
dramatically in the last week or so. Could you let me know where you
heard
about TCP? You're welcome to post your answer to the list, or you can
write
to me offlist. If you post to the list, why don't you also let us know
what
you do in your tech comm career?

Also, I'm working on converting the site to Drupal and adding new
features,
like blog space. If anyone has worked with Drupal before and if you're
willing to advise me a bit, I would greatly appreciate it!

Warm regards,

Lisa Gielczyk
