If Management does not want every little piece of documentation news and directives to be constantly funneling through them, convince them to make it very clear to everybody that you are acting with their approval and blessing as their ears and eyes and keyboard. If they won't do this, get your feelers out early for a new job. Eventually, you're going to need one (or want one so badly that it feels like a need).
