The STC is indeed trying to change and has been making strides in many
areas to do so (as you point out). I won't argue that point. The
changes may not be to everyone's liking, but you can't please everyone
all of the time. Does the STC engage in some self-serving activities?
You bet, and I would expect/hope they would, as any organization
should. With any organization comes overhead, and it needs to be
managed if not minimized. But sure, some people won't care for some of
the things the STC is doing, and that's fine. Heck, I don't care for
some of the things the STC is doing, but there are other things that I
do like. Same with my kids' schools' PTAs, my fraternity, and
everything else. Focus on the negative and the organization can do no
right, focus on the positive and the organization can do no wrong. But
focus on both and you see that it's just like every other organization
out there, and you can choose to either be in or out. Arguing about
who's right and who's wrong is about as fruitful as arguing about
modern art.
