Hi all,

Just learned something about amazon I thought I'd pass along.

We all like getting tech stuff for cheap and most of us like getting new toys from the delivery man.

I just learned about a feature of amazon called add-on items.

Basically, if your order contains over $ 25 of items shipped from amazon, you qualify to add add-on items at cheap prices which would not normally be economical to ship. (ie, the shipping is more than the price) If your order qualifies, you can add all kinds of cool items which you couldn't get otherwise at the same price.

As an example, I'm buying an audio cd which costs $ 34.09 or something. So, I was looking around for something for $ 0.81 or more to add to the order so I could get free shipping.

I found a 10' cat5e cable for $ 2.01 which is classified as an add-on item. Since my order was already over $ 25, it lets me add the add-on item. And, since it's now over $ 35, I get the free shipping.

If you try to buy an add-on item without $ 25 of stuff shipped from amazon, and if all you have in the cart is add-on items, it won't let you check out. If you have some non add-on items in the cart, but are still under $ 25, the add-on items will be moved to your save for later area when you check out.

It's a little confusing. But, the main thing is that I'm getting a 10' cat5e cable for $ 2 and free shipping.

There's no way to search for add on items as far as I know, but you can search for something and then sort by price low to high. You can also do a blank search in, say, electronics, or computers. This will get you everything in those categories. Then sort by price. You might be surprised what you can get for under $ 5.

I thought you guys might like to know about it.

Sincerely,

Ron
